Sooo... the new companion has been announced. I'm a bit afraid of the new season. Changes, so many of them. So news can freak me out a bit. Oh, but then comes the fun part: speculation.
My first thought was about the hair. Mmm, red hair. But again? So soon after Donna? Are they trying to make up for Eleven not being ginger? Nice try, but you fail! Hmph.
Ooh, new thought! Maybe it's Eleven who's trying to make up for not being ginger!
My second thought was: Dammit, she's young. A young female again. It would have been nice to have an older companion, especially since Eleven is the youngest Doctor ever. So that's where the fear came in. The fear that I won't like the new season.
Looking at the photo I also had this thought: Don't you think she looks tired? Ahaha.
BUT! You know what she's not? From London. At least that's true for the actress. She's Scottish, OMG. Okay, okay, I think I'm gonna like her. If she gets to keep her accent.
Steven Moffat, a Scot himself, said about Karen:
Heh, again they cast someone who has already appeared on the show. But I think in this case there's no explaination needed for why she looks like someone else (I say 'think' because I'm not sure - I haven't rewatched The Fires of Pompeii yet). She played a soothsayer and iirc we've only seen Evelina without the make up.
You know what could explain the red hair? Donna. Maybe the new companion is a descendant. Hee, that would be cool. Donna Noble the Third.
Imagine something like this: At the beginning of the episode the Doctor meets someone and find out (s)he's related to one of his companions and then he'll spend the rest of the episode trying to make her/him travel with him. Personally I love it.

"funny, and clever, and gorgeous, and sexy. Or Scottish, which is the quick way of saying it".Well, Scottish, yeah ^^. But why is sexy so important? Who the fuck cares? You know, I'm a bit afraid that British TV will turn into American TV, where even ugly isn't really ugly. That's one thing I love about British TV, that there are real people, and I wanna keep it!
