Hah, I had no idea that at the end of last year I had been only one serial way from the next era.
Overall I liked this era (having to watch reconstructions was annoying, though). The second Doctor was better the the first, because One was just too grumpy. Some of the companions suffered from unfulfilled potential and it made me want to slap the writers. What was good: the first appearances of the sonic screwdriver and of the Time Lords. And Gallifrey, sort of.
In the serial with Benedict Cumberbatch's mom (heee) Ben and Polly leave. Hooray! Man, was I glad to see them gone. Ben's tone was so annoying most of the time and Polly was too often just the tea-serving secretary. Come on, that's not the point of a companion! But I'm glad that they did get back to their time and place unharmed.
Jamie! I like Jamie. You know how I like pretty much all things Scottish. He didn't leave voluntarily, but at least he got back to where he came from. I had no idea that Donna wasn't the first companion robbed of their memory.
Victoria could have been more useful, if they had let her. At least they let Victoria stay in 1968, because that's what she wants. Better than, you know, dumping you own granddaughter in a strange time, just because she got along with a guy there!
Zoe! I like Zoe, she smart and useful. Even though she has the same problem as all the girls in this era: she's not allowed to join the dangerous adventures. And ridiculously feminism is even acknowledged in these situations, but then brushed aside with some stupid argument. Oh, go heroically die in a fire!
