The Silkworm
I just finished chapter 17.
I was really surprised that Quine's body was found (or at least so early), because that meant the police would get involved. Or, you know, take over completely. I couldn't see that happening because it's a book about Strike's cases, not the police's.
Totally saw it coming that Orlando's disabled. Woo, I called something! \o/

Things I want right now:
  • Most of all I want to find out the truth behind Owen Quine's novel and his death. I still don't like Strike with his blokeyness or the blokeyness of the book (Seriously, WTF, Jo?!). The reason that I can't help reading every day, even though I have other things to do, is the mystery.
  • Strike not to get laid every book.
  • Strike to get into a happy relationship with Nina. Because 1. I like her and want her to be a recurring character, 2. that way Strike could keep getting laid without it annoying me and 3. it would help Strike not getting interested in Robin. Oh and 4. that way Strike would hopefully stop thinking about Charlotte - I'm tired of reading about her.
  • Robin to not break up with Matthew (Because it would such a fucking cliché if they did break up! And Matthew still being there would help Strike not getting interested in Robin. Why the fuck does he need help anyway?! In the shape of a guy?! Maybe Robin's just not fucking interesting in you - wouldn't that be enough help?! Why yes, I am a bit annoyed.) and even less to get together with Strike. Sure, Jo hasn't shown us anything about Matthew that would make us understand why Robin has been in a relationship with him for so long, but that doesn't have to mean anything. I want Robin to be happy with Matthew again!
  • Matthew to get his fucking act together and be okay with Strike.
  • Robin becoming a detective herself. Maybe I'm just interpreting it that way because that's what I'm hoping for, but with saying he wanted to employ a second person, Strike seemed to indicate that he wanted to train Robin as a detective (which would mean he'd have to get someone else to do the secretary stuff).
