About 2 weeks ago my sister watched the Twilight movie and instantly became a fan. Dammit. Oh well, at least she's capable of some fangirlishness, that's good. It weirds me out a bit when people aren't able to be a bit fangirlish/fanboyish or can't admit to it.
Anyway, from the friend who showed her the movie sis borrowed the books and the DVD (before she ordered it all from Amazon about a week later). My sister is one of those nice people who will listen to you talk about your favorite topic even though she's not a fan herself, so I thought it would only be fair to watch the movie with her. Now I've seen it, but I'm still not liking it.
But I must say Kristen Stewart is perfectly cast. There is a certain plainness about her. Just imagine her staring, with her open mouth, at Edward - totally how I imagine Bella.
Robert Pattinson, WTF? For me that was casting fail again. Because you remember when he played Cedric in Harry Potter? Cedric was described as handsome. So was Edward... again and again again. So where is the handsome? Robert Pattinson looks like he's stoned ...oh god, I can hear the stupid laughing about stupid jokes in my head. I can't be the only who thinks that.
I recognized Billy Burke - the name and the face. But I don't know from where. I couldn't tell you where I've seen him before. But helpful IMDb is helpful: it's 24. Which makes the following funnier:
Sarah Clarke! I was like O_O when I saw her. Dammit, Nina, what happened to your awesome villain carrier?
Anyone else? Ah yes, José Zúñiga who plays a cop on CSI.
And then there was Stephenie Meyer in what felt like the most obvious cameo I've ever seen.
I was surprised to hear Mute Math in the film (and also kinda excited). I know practically nothing about the band. About a year ago I talked with a psychologist about I don't know what. I think it was about Panic at the Disco and how they have totally seen the layout I made for the
patd comm. So that led to talking about other bands and she recommended MuteMath. Most unusual source ever. Anyway, I checked out their music and I liked it, but the complete fangirling with collecting info on the band and all that, that's not really my thing. So that's how I got that nice surprise that made the movie better. Although not much - they're not that powerful.
Not a surprise but definitely nice: Muse \o/! I'm not really actively a Twilight hater, but I do know an amazing amount of stuff about a fandom that I'm not a fan of. I knew that Stephenie Meyer is a fan of Muse (didn't like that at first, but it made the movie better, so) and I knew there would be a Muse song in the movie. Not when and what song though. Now I know and it feels kind of weird to have Supermassive Black Hole also in Supernatural. Dude, Twilight and Supernatural have something in common! Well, besides the vampires, of course. At least they don't sparkle in Supernatural. Thank Kripke!
Oh, the sparkles! The sparkles are the #1 source of lulz. Not as LOLtastic as I had hoped, but I knew that already because I have a hater on my flist who saw that movie and wrote a review.
