2x01: Looks like I finally managed to separate BBC!Irene from my headcanon!Irene. \o/
Now I can look at BBC!Irene without headcanon!Irene trying to take over. And I've seen that BBC!Irene is almost as bad as Jim (I mean, I've seen it before, but only through a veil of denial). Which begs the question: Why do I absolutely adore Jim but am so disappointed in Irene?? It's not just that ACD!Moriarty has always been a bad guy whereas ACD!Irene was good. It's also that Jim never pretended not to be evil: the first time we heard of him we knew he was evil. But Irene pretended, made us think she was not a bad person. So then came the betrayal and it hurt.
I always thought that mask comment by Irene meant something, but it took me way too long to see that (besides her fascination with Sherlock, of course) it was not about her just pretending to be evil for some reason (as my ACD-inspired headcanon!Irene always wanted me to think), it was about her pretending to be a decent person.
Gah, I think I need a support group. I only managed to understand that BBC!Irene is a mean lying liar who lies, but I'm still not okay with it. This will bother me forever!
2x03: Ravens and thieving magpies.
I really like this nice shot of a raven at the Tower.
I'm not sure, but weren't ravens death omens or something? Anyway, I found out that ravens and magpies are part of the crow family, so maybe that raven foreshadows Jim going all thieving magpie (Have I squeed about the choice of music for the scene recently?). Probably not, but I like the idea.
Also the latin name for the magpie is Pica pica. Easily amused person that I am, I found this very funny. And I photoshopped a Pica-pica!Jim:
