Sherlock panel at Comic Con
Moffat says that he doesn't think the real interest is in HOW Sherlock survives ("Because that's just an answer"), but the real showstopper will be when Sherlock and Watson see each other again after the incident. That's what he really wants people to see, because the actors are fantastic together.

“It’s when John and Sherlock meet again. I think that’s the showstopper,” he said. “It’s a long, complicated, emotional journey, and extremely funny.”

The evolving and deepening friendship between Holmes and Watson will be a major focus of the upcoming season, especially with the introduction of a new love interest. Freeman’s real-life partner Amanda Abbington is joining the cast as Mary Morstan, Watson’s future wife.

Second episode, meanwhile, will find Watson meeting the love of his life, and Mary. And as you might have guessed, they get married. "Hot off the presses from more than 100 years ago ... we hoped you wouldn't go ahead and read the stories," Moffat says, sarcastically.

I'm so looking forward to the reunion! I hope it won't be too negative and there'll be no punching.
We got confirmation that it is John who gets married \o/. God, I hope they'll all be living together in 221B - in my head it's really very entertaining. Have I mentioned that I really love that Martin's actual wife will play John's wife?

The trio continue to elaborate on all of the online speculation, and Moffat confirms that Moriarty IS dead, though we'll see Andrew Scott again ... as a dead body.

The show’s creators also confirmed that Andrew Scott, who plays Sherlock’s nemesis Jim Moriarty, appears in the new season, but as a corpse, joking that it was cheaper to pay Scott to play dead than to create a dead Moriarty mannequin. Moffat dismissed the notion that Moriarty faked his death.

“He can’t come back from that,” Moffat said. “He shot himself in the face. What more do you want?”

At first it sounded quite good, but then I wondered about the tone it was said in. I mean, was it really confirmation that Andrew Scott will be back or were they just mocking the people who think/hope there'll be more of Jim? Gah, I don't know why I'm even bothered about this, I've seen the set pics and although there were some things weird about them, they wouldn't just bring Andrew Scott in for shits and giggles and trolling. So I guess I'll take this as actual confirmation, also that Jim is dead. Which is a relief, because that was one hell of an exit and him having faked his death would have ruined it. The question is still if we'll get flashbacks or a Jim twin/triplet. Oh god, triplets (all named James) would really amuse me so much. Let Andrew not just be Moriarty, let him be all the Moriartys!

Any love interests for Sherlock in season three? Not likely. Sex for Sherlock takes place in his brain. Romance probably is not on his agenda, which is why the Adler storyline from season two was so ... demented.

Well, thank fuck! But really, could we just properly establish that Sherlock is asexual and aromantic? Thanks.

Favorite moments from the first two seasons? Moffat singles out the last 20 minutes of the two finales: The swimming pool scene at the end of The Great Game and the wrap-up scenes of the season two finale. Gatniss chimes in and says Scandal is their best episode, the most complete work they've managed to date. Moffat agrees. They all love that episode. Verue says there are very funny deleted scenes from that episode that they'll show us ... one day. That memory cracks the panel up.

1. I very much agree about the season-finale endings as favorite moments. 2. The continued screwing up of the name Gatiss amuses me. 3. DELETED SCEEEENES! When? WHEN?!????!
