The 50th-anniversary special will be simulcast
...and you'd think that's great. I looked at the list and hey, Germany's on it. But apparently it will be on Fox. What, we have Fox here? What is it, a pay-TV channel?

BBC Worldwide has offered the simulcast of the Doctor Who 50th anniversary episode to the primary broadcaster in each country where Doctor Who is currently broadcast.

Thanks, Pro 7, for dumping Doctor Who. No, but I understand, if you want to be good at something, you have to keep doing it regularly. Also thanks for being the reason why dubbed DW DVDs are still expensive in Germany.

How I feel: slightly grumpy

We're not even on the damn list. And I swear, France 4 over here has been broadcasting three episodes a day lately, so we do have a 'primary broadcaster'! Damn BBC.

Maybe getting people to write to France 4 would help.

Hmm, no. I realised that broadcasting it live would mean the ep would be in English and 90% of French viewers need their shows French dubbed otherwise they throw a tantrum, and the 10% who wants the English version need subtitles because most of the time their English isn't good enough. I don't know if we're an exception when it comes to that but it's always been annoying.

I wonder if maybe there will be subtitles. I doubt they could get proper dubbing done quickly, but subtitles should be doable.
