Today my mom and I painted Easter eggs. When I wanted to take photos of them, my camera freaked me out by displaying "system error (focus)". Neither repeatedly turning it off and on again nor taking out the battery and memory and putting them back in worked. I thought I'd have to send the camera in for repair again - and that 2 weeks before our vacation and with my currect money situation! But when I googled the problem, I found a site which suggested to

Place the camera flat on its back on a table, pointed at the ceiling. Press and hold the shutter button down, and at the same time press the power-on button. The idea is that the camera will try to autofocus while the lens is extending, hopefully seating the lens barrel guide pins in their slots.

I tried that and lo & behold, it worked! Holy shit, I'm so relieved!
