I hate to be whiny,
but I recently rewatched the two-parter Human Nature/Family of Blood and the difference to current Doctor Who is so depressingly big! I want that show back that has a useful, believable companion (sure, Martha had that annoying crush on the Doctor, but she was still great) and plots/characterizations that don't feel forced, that I don't constantly question.

How I feel: nostalgic

But Human Nature/Family of blood is easily one of the best New Who stories. Most Tennant-era eps don't live up to that standard of quality writing.

and plots/characterizations that don't feel forced, that I don't constantly question.
100% agree with that though. I'm so tired of trying to 'accept' as canon what Moffat thinks is brilliant writing but is really nonsensical problematic shit.

True, it's not a fair comparison, but even when I compare bad earlier New Who episodes to recent good ones, the earlier ones are better. I'm growing more and more frustrated with the current show. :o/
