Bilderberg conference
Sometimes, from an international point of view, it feels like my city is the ass end of the world. But occasionally I'm reminded that it's not. Just found out that a Bilderberg conference is about to be held here.
I hadn't even heard of the Bilderberg Group until Muse's treaure hunt. Ah, good times! Also, my name is in that article! Twice!

I just wonder why it's called Bilderberg?

Hey, Obama was here in 2009! Definitely one of the highlights. I took the day off work to not miss it.

Not sure if we already were friends back then but here are some pictures I took: http://dieastra.livejournal.com/tag/obama%20in%20dresden

They're called that because they had their first conference in the Bilderberg Hotel.

I remember that of course. And Putin was here some years ago too. When Obama was here, I was at the Kulturpalast. I remember the snipers on the Frauenkirche - that was creepy! A while I stood next to minister-president Tillich.

Thanks for the link!

Yeah, I've read that now about the name as well. I had no idea that this is such an old meeting already.

Well, Putin has lived for several years in Dresden, he does not really count ;) It's like homecoming for him.

The other pictures from Thursday I posted, there is a picture of the Brühlsche Terrasse, and since the whole city was closed off, it is totally empty. Not one person on it. I thought that was creepy, as I never had seen that before. Like in those movies, where you are the last survivor in an empty world.

Well yeah, but no. By which I mean: but he's high up in the government of a really big country, so it kinda does count.

Ha, I know that creepy feeling. Sometimes when I leave my apartment and there are no or barely any people/cars on the streets. How do people in smaller places deal with that?!
