Gah, typing this (by which I also mean part 1, of course) took forever! But I'm finally done, yay!
Again: A new list item marks a new scene, I just couldn't be bothered to write "Act X, Scene Y" in front of them all.
In conclusion:
It was so nice to have the characters back and they haven't changed much. Except maybe Draco - it felt like he really grew up. The most important thing to me was to have that loveliness of the HP books back, because it's so terribly lacking in Jo's non-HP books. And it had everything an HP story needs: friendship, riddles, adventure, mystery and all that. I also liked that it dealt with feelings from the past. You know, things that hadn't been properly addressed in the books. The whole thing was a canon fest, not just giving us a new story, but drawing a whole lot from previously established things.
What I didn't like is that the time-travel thing, which had started out well, was then overdone to the point where it felt like a fanfic. I think they spent too much time in Godric's Hollow. If they hadn't stayed to watch Voldy kill the Potters, I probably still would have been okay with it. Although I was already feeling uncomfortable about Voldy having a child. I mean, he must have had sex and that just... ew! It doesn't compute. I know that just because Voldemort can't love, doesn't meant he can't have sex. But I prefer to imagine Bellatrix was impregnated by magic. Although there's still the question of why. Voldy didn't seem like the kind of person who'd want an heir (that's something for mortal people).
In conclusion I'd say for me things (with too much of the time travel and self-referential plot) started to go downhill with Act 4.
At the beginning I thought Rose would be part of our new trio, but then she wasn't in the story much. And it was better that way, because she wasn't that likeable. :o/
Apparently over at Tumblr the name for Albus/Scorpius is "Scorbus". What a horrible ship name! And I don't just say that because I'm used to "AS/S", I say it because it's almost "Skorbut" ("scurvy").
I know I sound like a bitter LGBT person (because occasionally I am) or shipper (I don't need them to have a romantic relationship, that friendship is great as it is), but the boys' crushes feel like the authors' alibis. Like "See, Albus and Scorpius are totally straight!". I can buy Scorpius's crush on Rose (which is weird, unlikeable as she is - but probably because it was established early on), but then Albus has a crush on a girl too. I mean, would it hurt them to give us some representation?! I would have been happy with any character being LGBT, but those were the most obvious ones.
Have I mentioned that I've absolutely fallen in love with Scorpius? What a sweetheart! Definitely my favorite character in this story.

- Cedric became a Death Eater?!
- Snape!!!
- What/who's the Augurey? Doesn't sound like they're talking about the bird.
- I don't understand why reversing the interference in the first task hasn't automatically also reversed that in the second. I don't like that whole type of time travel, it only breaks your brain. I prefer the stable time loops we got in PoA.
- Oh god, this Voldy world has me in tears. *sniff*
"Tell Albus - tell Albus Severus - I'm proud he carries my name." ;___; - Delphi is the Augurey?! :O And that just when I was getting worried about her and was trying to stop worrying.
She grew up with a Rowle!
I was wondering what story would be left to tell after the past and present were fixed. Man, I didn't see that one coming! - Man, she's not even Cedric's cousin. So she's a Rowle?
- She killed Craig! You bastard! ...Seriously, I didn't expect anyone to get murdered in this story.
- Cedric to the rescue! Holy shit! Imagine all the feels that'll give Harry, when he learns about that. Shortly before he was murdered, Cedric saved Harry's future son and his BFF.
- Whoa, Albus and Scorpius are stuck in time! And next comes a scene in the Old Wizards Home and I'm terrified that for some reason AS/S didn't land somewhere between the Tournament and the present, but further in the past, so that they're old in the present and in St. Oswald's.
Holy shit, I did suspect as much, but not strongly enough to write it down. Delphi is Voldy's daughter! Is Bellatrix the mom? - OMG, it is further in the past! If they take the slow path to their present, they'll be 50 when they arrive! (Still better than the St. Oswald's version, though.)
- So how did AS/S get to Godric's Hollow? Did they have enough money on them for the train ride?
Heh, Scorpius fanboying Bathilda Bagshot. I, meanwhile, feel a bit disturbed, because I can't forget about that encounter with "her" in DH *shudder*. I'll probably have the same problem with augureys now. - Phew, another Time-Turner! So AS/S won't have to use the slow path.
They're not using it!?! - Yes, perfect, a message for the future, well, present. I was thinking about that and I'm glad AS/S are too.
Oh, Harry's baby blanket is still in Albus's room. I'm disappointed that I was wrong about Scorpius smelling Amortentia instead of Rose. On the other hand there's AS/S's way to communicate! - Albus is good at Polyjuicing? So good that he likes to do it in his summer holidays? Is that why they had Polyjuice Potion ready before they even had use for it?
- Ha, Bellatrix! Who else!
