It's so weird to learn via CNN of something that happened in my city!

But then I do live under a rock. I didn't even know we had mosques here (but then I did think of mosque-shaped mosques, so). "Monday" and "mosque" you say? Sounds like Pegida idiots. At least there wasn't that much destruction, no one was injured. By the way, here's the article.

I stumbled over it while checking my e-mails on GMX in the lunch break at work. GMX is very good with killing you with its headlines. You don't even have to read the article.

It's also how I found out that Roger Cicero had died which really shocked me :(

I still intend to fully enjoy the festivities at the weekend.

I had no idea there are festivities!

All newspapers and TV are full of it? The inner city is already closed for a week, no car can go through. Everywhere are these big "Lego" stones as fences.

Lots of stages and concerts in the city, the whole Wilsdruffer Straße full of huts from all other countries, where you can eat and buy stuff from there. Go there, it's great! Yesterday I watched a fashion show with GDR fashion. ZDF and MDR show all the concerts. Just right now in TV there is the light show at the Elbe, the fireworks are now starting. They showed Saxonian history at the historic buildings and great music.

Are you living under a stone? LOL

I am absolutely living under a rock! I don't go out that often (it's exhausting), don't bother with newspapers (not enough articles that interest me that would warrant buying) and I tend to have mostly CNN on (because its commercials are the ones I find most bearable).

Well, that's too bad. It will be 16 years before this official reunification celebration will be back in Dresden, and I will be 16 years older then, almost 60, so I want to see and do as much as possible now. I also saw a huge model of Wartburg. Maybe I should post some pictures I took yesterday.

Tomorrow Merkel will be in the Semperoper.

If you think that the whole city is full of people, it's not. There was enough space for everyone, it was not crowded.

I couldn't bear watching CNN. It's only about Trump and Hillary and Afghanistan and Iraq and I am sick of it. I don't think America is really interested in the rest of the world. I rather read a local newspaper that tells me about the things happening in Dresden. That interests me.

Oh, 16? Do these celebrations happen in a different federate state's capital city every year?

Yes, please post those pictures!

Yes, indeed. There is a smaller celebration in Dresden every year. But the official big one with politican speeches is somewhere else each time.

And done! Enjoy!
