day 1 (Sept. 8 2010)
Didn't sleep too well the first night and almost fell off the bed at least twice.
Tried to not get nervous about the concerts, I told myself they wouldn't be that great. Sis got us breakfast from the McDonald's next door and we tried to get online again. The laptop BSOD'd again. Stupid thing. At least it was working long enough for us to find out where to find the McDonald's for the Muser Meet later that day. For that meet up I put on my srs bsns clothes, because I liked the idea even though I was sure I would be the only one in a business outfit.
Then it was time for being proper tourists.
Pretty clock at London Bridge station.
Gah, those stairs! Whose idea was it to make them like that and how is one supposed to comfortably walk on them?
Okay. But what is it then?
Look, a Christmas shop! \o/
Cards for every member of Muse. ^^
It was only around noon and already I couldn't walk in my shoes anymore.
So naturally the first thing I thought when I saw this bench was "Ooh, pretty, must take picture!" Yeah, I don't get my brain either.
Hey, Edinburgh has something like that too.
Tower Bridge!
We walked across the bridge, past the Tower and to Monument Station. Took the tube (My first tube ride!) to King's Cross. Epic escalators!
Wheeeee.
After that we walked along shopping streets. Sis asked in electronics stores for the mysterious thing that she had forgotten to pack. Hm, what could it be, the lack of what thing would freak me out if I knew about it? Sis had the camera, she had the memory card. I suspected it was the battery charger. While I sat in a Starbucks with a caramel frappé, sis continued her mission to replace the mysterious thing. She only took her wallet & the camera and left the rest with me - AHA! I waited for... I don't know, 30 minutes? and was nervous. What if she wouldn't find the charger? And I didn't like being alone in a strange big city.
Then she was finally back and she had found a replacement! And yes, it was a battery charger for the camera. Ah, the relief!
Then more wandering along shopping streets. Looked for those pretty heartshaped checkered earrings that I'd seen in a Claire's in Dresden. But this Claire's didn't have them.
Primark. Oh god, Primark! Hate, HATE, HATE! My sister wanted to buy clothes there, because they're cheap. I just wanted to get out of there. So many people! Nowhere to sit! That fucking endless line in front of the changing rooms!
I survived the stress and we took the tube to Wembley Park for the Muser Meet.
OMG, it's Wembley fucking Stadium!
We didn't go to the stadium yet, though, but turned right. At 6pm we arrived at McDonald's for the 7pm meet. There was already a guy outside who we suspected was there for the meet, but we weren't sure. About 6:30 someone came who looked (judging by the Muse hoodie) like she was there for the meet. uprised from the board joined our table and we talked a bit. I had to talk, oh god! You see, I fail at talking with strangers. I fail at talking in English. I should just pretend that I can't talk and instead type everything. Then we went outside and it turned out that guy was there for the meet. More people kept arriving. I don't think I recognized anyone except of course Pip. But they sure did recognize my name when I said it. It was so weird to get that reaction. So yeah, lots of Musers, but I didn't take pictures. Why? *facepalm*
I stayed at the meet while sis was nice enough to go and get me a cucumber (I planned to bring cucumber sticks for the concert the next day, because they don't let you in with beverages) in the Lidl next to McDonald's. Hee, that brought back memories of the off topic sexy plane conversation about German supermarkets. At 7pm the last to join the meet there was the much-loved dead-duck, who of course got even more of an reaction when she introduced herself. She seemed a bit shy, I was shy too, so WE DIDN'T TALK. D:
Shortly after 7pm the about 18 Musers proceeded to go to a restaurant. I didn't, because I was waiting for my sister to come back. Dux didn't either, because she was waiting for a friend. We still didn't talk. Seconds later sis was back and we thought about following the group. We tried, but didn't see them anymore. It was better that way, because sis heard sounds coming from the stadium! :O
So we ran towards Wembley fucking Stadium to hear the soundcheck. OMG! Okay, first song we heard was I Belong to You. Which (until Neutron Star Collison) was the song I hated most. Boo-urns. But then! Ruled by Secrecy! I got to hear Ruled by fucking Secrecy! Even if it was only a soundcheck. We also heard Unintended, MK Jam and Undisclosed Desires. There was a song that I couldn't identify, because at that time we've been walking up to gate M/N, where it was too windy to hear. Later it turned out it was Soldier's Poem. The soundcheck ended about 7:45 and we walked slowly down the ramp. At the bottom we passed the Dux again. Ha, met twice! But didn't talk once :(. At least I waved.
Wembley Arch.
Back at the hostel sis and I tried the laptop on the wastebasket (instead of the bed) so it could breathe. It worked \o/! I could read Twitter and not feel disconnected from the world, yay.
Then I filled red balloons with glitter for the next day and the day after that. Excitement!
