day 1 (Sept. 8 2010)
day 2 (Sept. 9 2010)
day 3 (Sept. 10 2010)
Night 3 of no good sleep. This time it was incredibly stressful dreams that feel like they're actually happening. I dreamt of overcrowded Tube stations.
And when I woke up I felt bad enough to consider not going to the second concert. Which I knew I would regret, because it's well known that the second night usually gets the better setlist. I knew that if I wouldn't go there would be MK Ultra and Bliss, the songs I so desperately wanted to hear.
So of course I did go, but sis and I took our time getting ready. Screw getting a good spot, I was so exhausted, I even would have taken a seat.
About 13:30 we went to Wandsworth Road station. I am really appallingly unobservant, because it was the third day we used that station and only then did I notice what was visible from there.
Ooh, look, it's Battersea!
At Victoria station we bought food at M&S Simply Food, because I was (we were?) getting so sick of McDonald's breakfast. Mmm... real food!
It was almost 15:30 (about an hour until the doors would open) when we arrived at the Stadium. Naturally the line (gates M/N this time) was longer than the day before. Nothing interesting happened while we were sitting in line, saw no boardies. Sitting there was nice again, especially since I was so tired and exhausted. The sun was shining, a bit too much for my taste.

And here starts the gig stuff. If you're not interested in that, skip this blockquote.
Me with my streamer around my neck.
My sister with our aliens.
Wembley Stadium at night. Isn't it pretty.
Back to our hostel again with 3 buses.
Still in the Wembley area. Hehe, event today.
Sis and I arrived about 2:30 and were still high from the concert. We made pictures with our glowsticks.
Bernie the UFO.
I received a text from Pokemew: before the gig Chris the football-loving Muse bassist had tweeted a time and place for a game. That time was the same we had planned for another Muser meet. We'd have to change that a bit, so our meeting and watching the game would both be possible.

Doors opened some minutes before 16:30 this time. When we got to the top of the ramp we walked past the trash of overnight queuers: food packaging, blankets, magazines for adults.
We went to the sounddesk again, but there was no barrier spot there anymore. Neither on its right side, but there was still space on the left side. Yay! So I was the second person on the left sounddesk barrier, just behind a girl in a Biffy shirt.
Saw no boardies there either. :o(
...But while I sat on the floor with my back to the barrier I did see 3 girls in black San Siro shirts. Dammit, if only I could remember what exactly their shirts said. I did remember for some time after the gig, but I didn't expect to write my diary so late, so I didn't write it down *sigh*. Anyway, they came over and asked sounddesk people for Tom, if he could come out for pictures or something. After a couple of minutes Tom did come to them. While the girls talked with Tom, I was still sitting there with the bag of one of the girls pretty much in my face. I have no idea why I didn't get up to get a picture with Tom or something. Maybe I was sitting too comfortably/was afraid to lose my spot (What if the girls wanted to stay there?)/thought it would look creepy if I suddenly emerged from behind the barrier, I don't know. After the girls got what they wanted they left and I could see that there was text on the back of their shirts too. On the front there was something like "We traveled from San Siro to Wembley" and on the back (or maybe part of it was on the front) "just to say", but then instead of continuing like IBTY it said something about Chris. Don't remember what, but it wasn't that he's their muse.
I liked I Am Arrows. Someone in the crowd held up a blow up doll and the I Am Arrows guy commented "Nice tits!". They played a nice cover of Everybody Wants to Rule the World.
White Lies were good too.
And you might remember: 4 months later there was regret.
It seems for some reason it's always the last support that annoys me. Probably because I was tired and would have preferred to spend the hours before Muse with sleeping. Uh, yeah, obviously sleeping in a stadium full of people isn't very easy. Good thing I started feeling better before Muse started.
At one point (must have been before Biffy Clyro, because after there were too many people) I saw a guy in a Wembley vest somewhere next to me in the crowd. I don't remember if I saw what his vest said, but he had something like a microphone and held it in the direction of the stage.
I think it was here (or maybe on the 10th, not that sure) that someone checked a mic on stage and I don't think it was something interesting (or maybe it was something hilariously random), but the way he said it was entertaining. He got cheers and we got an encore. ^^
The guy behind me got into a conversation with Crowd Satefy girl. He asked her what that with Tom and the fangirls was all about. Crowd Safety girl didn't know either. But she is a fan of the band. Win job is win.
And then the man behind me talked to a Crowd Safety guy. Ooh, they did security for the Teignmouth gigs!
Inflatables, let me tell you about them! There were more than on the 10th. I saw a green alien head balloon XD. Beachballs of course. Condomballoons again. Lots of balloons. And I brought my own again. Red and filled with glitter. One of them even almost made it into the airstream *proud*. But it dropped again because the glitter made it too heavy. And I saw glowing balloons! What is this, how do they work? Do want, they were cool! I'm still wondering if they were actually self-luminous or had a little light inside.
A crew guy climbed up the wall of the sounddesk and opened the roof. He wasn't very careful and water came down and over the barrier. The guy behind me complained. Seriously, dude, there are people there! People who want to stay dry. Didn't know it had rained. ...No, wait... yeah, I just remembered, in the queue we were sitting on a rain poncho because the ground was wet.
Somehow, slowly, a couple next to me had managed to squeeze in between me and Biffy shirt girl. First one got a hand on the barrier, then stood at the barrier and then the other did the same. Hmph, 2 more people in front of me. If at least they would have done less of the PDA.
And then! Suddenly the pre-Muse music was Muse. MK Ultra was played. WHAT. THE. FUCK. With visuals on the stage screens. Oh, so that was the video I've seen the day before on one of the sounddesk screens. I was grumpy. Because why would they play a Muse song before the gig? Was it like "We know you all want to hear MK, but we're not gonna play that live. So here, have a video!"?
Green Day was played, which I remembered from the 10th, one of the last songs, yay! And then Vertigo. Last song, ooh, I loved it. It's a really good last song.
So Muse were about to start and it seems several idiots didn't know what to do with the beer they had left. I mean obviously the options "drink it" or "slowly pour it on the ground so it can seep through the holes in the floor" were too logical. Nah, can't do that! Just throwing the beers is a much better idea! >_<
And here starts the gig stuff. If you're not interested in that, skip this blockquote.
Protester intro + Uprising. So we hoped that now that the intro started everyone had gotten rid of their beers. Apparently not, because one came flying in our direction and hit me on the left side. Ew! Got beer on my hair, face and jacket. The good thing was that it dried fast, stopped smelling and later in the gig I had completely forgotten about it.
At the beginning of Uprising a girl at the corner of the sounddesk barrier decided she needed a better view at the expense of ours and sat on her friend's shoulders. And while I was somewhat pissed I also watched events unfold with quite some glee. Because, you see, Crowd Safety girl came over to tell shoulders girl to come down, but Crowd Safety girl was completely ignored. I don't think shoulders girl even noticed that it wasn't just anyone who poked her there, but someone WHO CAN PULL HER OUT. Muahaha. Crowd Safety girl then left to get someone more visually impressive and Biffy shirt girl, who stood right behind shoulder girl, decided to do some poking. That lucky girl was even rewarded with shoulder girl's attention... even if it was just to swat that annoying hand away. Then big Crowd Safety guy arrived and look how fast the girl gets off her friend's shoulders.
I was glad my camera survived the beer attack (got hit on the left side, but was holding the camera with the right hand), but then it started raining, I was a little worried. And I had forgotten that Wembley doesn't have a roof, kind of feels like a hall. Was really nice of the rain not to be that much and only last for Uprising (and part of another song a bit later in the set).
What an eventful song.
Supermassive Black Hole. One of the songs during which Muser!Crowd Safety girl stood on a sounddesk barrier step to watch the show. Must be a cool job.
Stage is dark... rows of spotlights go on... orange, red... Fuesch gets cautiously excited. OMG, could it be? MK Ultra? First notes are played - MK Ultra! FUCK YES! Finally I got to hear it \o/. I almost cried. Seriously, I had tears in my eyes. Watch the cameras go up at the beginning of my sister's MK video. XD
Map of the Problematique started and it was only that moment that I noticed they didn't play it on the 10th. One day I'll stand at the barrier and throw a pack of tissues when Matt sings "metchoo". While I was happy to hear that song again, poor MotP was forgotten again as soon as...
Bliss started! *jawfloor* I think I was so stunned I didn't even cheer. I GOT BLISS! And MK! OMFG! During MK Ultra I thought I should tweet because I tweeted the special songs on the 10th. But then I thought I should wait, maybe MK will be followed by Bliss and I can tweet them together. But no, MotP instead. Then Bliss came and I tweeted and only remember that there was something between the songs I wanted to hear most, but really couldn't remember what it was... might have been a riff. :$ Please don't take it personally, MotP.
If you want better quality, try my sister's video.
Confetti & streamers time: Guiding Light! This time I caught a white streamer, yay! A whole bunch. They're quite thin. And a black one was hanging on the barrier. I tried to get it, but it was stuck and rather robust, so I had to tear off a bit. Finally I am the proud owner of streamers, ha!
Streamers and confetti still flying through the air prettily at the beginning of Interlude + Hysteria. That balloon popping music at the end was weird.
At the beginning of rarer songs I always had trouble believing that I was identifying them correctly for some reason. I guess I just couldn't believe my luck. Citizen Erased! You know, I never thought about other special songs, it was all "Must hear Bliss & MK! Everything else is a bonus". I was so focused on these 2 songs, that I didn't really think about the possibility of getting to hear other songs that I'd like to hear.
Between the Back in Black riff and CE you can see one of those glowing balloons.
Nishe + United States of Eurasia. That's my sister's flag you can see in the video. Which she got signed by Chris the next day, btw. :oD
Ruled by Secrecy! D'oh, you can hear me humming Feeling Good (:$ I was hoping the camera didn't pick that up), because that's what I supected to be played next. You can also hear me gasping. Okay, I did hear it get soundchecked two days before (although that doesn't have to mean anything) and the next day I saw the visuals on one of the sounddesk screens (by then that could mean something, I guess). So I guess you could call that a spoiler. Good thing I'm forgetful :oD! Btw, same thing happened with B&H on the 10th, I totally forgot that spoiler, so I got to enjoy the anticipation AND the surprise. Oh yes, I also got to hear it live, not just soundchecked. And if it wasn't clear before, it's here at the latest that we can say: HOLY SHIT, THIS SETLIST COMPLETELY OWNS THAT OF THE 10TH!
So if you thought that after RbS you're safe from Feeling Good, you're wrong. That's why I laughed.
MK Jam + Undisclosed Desires. They be withholding my lasers again. D:
Resistance.
Before Starlight Matt said something that I couldn't understand (I hope one day we'll get live subtitles) and then Dom thanked the support bands and dedicated the song to friends, family and fans (Alliterarion, yay!). Heh, if there's a dedication, you guess what the next song is going to be.
House of the Rising Sun riff + Time Is Running Out. I want to know how they do the visuals. The "windows" go all wavey, but that's just light projected on there. The windows actually never moved. But where did the projection come from?
Matt thanked crew and made up go "hip hip hooray" for them before Unnatural Selection. Not that I knew that it was supposed to be hip hip hooray at first. Matt, you need to work on your pronunciation. The song sounded a bit wrong at the beginning AGAIN! What is this? Don't mess up one of my fave songs!
Encore break, time to inflate the aliens. Exogenesis: Symphony Part 1 (Overture). This time Bernie went around the whole stadium. With the lights from cellphones shining like stars in the background it looks like Bernie is in space, hehe. Including my sister's and my aliens I saw about 7 at the sounddesk. :oD
When Stockholm Syndrome started the UFO wasn't behind the stage yet, that was interesting an interesting sight . Btw, who was the with the flashing rings?
Riffs.
Encore break with Forced In video + Take a Bow.
Because this time I only started using the camera when Muse came on stage, I got to film longer and my sister took over later. So you only get to enjoy videos in better quality for 2 songs, starting with Plug in Baby. No balloons came near enough for us to get a chance to touch them. :o(
Ooh, look, popping balloons at the beginning of Man with a Harmonica + Knights of Cydonia. Epic fun times!

HOLY SHIT, BEST CONCERT EVER! I liked the crowd from the 10th better (Yay for being surrounded by boardies!), but OMG, the selist. THE SETLIST! THEY PLAYED ALL OF MY 4 FAVORITES IN 1 GIG! Really, I loved it so much I would have tweeted declarations of love at Muse. The only reason I didn't was because I recently tweeted from my phone and when I looked online I saw that @ turned into an upside down exclamation mark. So what's the point of tweeting if it does't reach the recipient.
For 10 months I had wondered if it would be worth it. I had my doubts before the trip and while in London, especially on the gig day mornings due to lack of sleep. But the concerts were awesome and I got through them fine. So YES! It was absolutely worth it.
People walking through cups like through snow.

Back to our hostel again with 3 buses.

Sis and I arrived about 2:30 and were still high from the concert. We made pictures with our glowsticks.
