Picspam: Sherlock smiles - 1x03
Well, this just shows (once again) how very unobservant I am. It's the nth time that I've watched this episode and there were still new things I discovered. Like when Sherlock was thinking about where to meet with Moriarty. He smiled when he thought if the pool.

"You've gotta help me, Mr. Holmes! Everyone says you're the best. Without you I'll get hung for this."
"No. No, Mr. Bewick, not at all. Hanged, yes."

"Hey, what have you done to my bloody wall? I'm putting this on your rent, young man!"

"But?"
"'But'?"
"Well, you wouldn't be here if it was just an accident."

"The plans for it were on a memory stick."
"That wasn't very clever."

"I'd be lost without my blogger."

"Hey."

A smile from Sherlock! Jim must have had a fanboy moment there and maybe the clumsiness with the dish wasn't all acting.

"We were made for each other, Sherlock."
"Then talk to me in your own voice."

"Mrs. Monkford cashes in the life insurance and she splits it with Janus Cars."

"We need to let our friendly bomber know that the case is solved."

"Has it occurred to you that the bomber's playing a game with you? The envelope, breaking into the other flat, the dead kid's shoes. It's all meant for you."
"Yes, I know."

"How long would the bacteria have been incubating inside her?"
"8-10 days."

"Just tell me, what are we dealing with?"
"Something new."

"You were right, the bacteria got into her another way."
"Oh yes?"

"You think it was the cat. It wasn't the cat."

"Yeah, it is. It must be. It's how he got the tetanus into her system. Its paws stink of disinfectant."
"Lovely idea."

"So why is he doing this then, playing this game with you? Do you think he wants to be caught?"
"I think he wants to be distracted."

"He's been in the river a long while, the water's detroyed most of the data. But I'll tell you one thing: that lost Vermeer painting's a fake."

"Okay, so what has that got to do with the stiff?"
"Everything."

"I better get my feelers out for this Golem character."
"Pointless, you'll never find him. But I know a man who can."
"Who?"
"Me."

"How did you get in?"
"Please!"

"Oh! In the planetarium, you heard it too. Oh, that is brilliant, that is gorgeous!"

"And did those whispers have a name?"
"Moriarty."

"You know, I'm still waiting."
"Hm?"
"For you to admit that a little knowledge of the solar system and you'd have cleared up the fake painting a lot quicker."
"Didn't do you any good, did it?"
"No, but I'm not the world's only consulting detective."

"Found. The Bruce-Partington plans. Please collect. The Pool. Midnight."

"Brought you a little 'getting to know you' present. That's what it's all been for, isn't it?"

"I'm glad no one saw that."
"Hm?"
"You ripping my clothes off in a darkened swimming pool - people might talk."
"People do little else."

So, what have I learned from this picspam?
That what makes Sherlock smile most is his work, being clever. When he has an idea or a theory is proved to be correct. I find this adorable, probably because they're all honest smiles.
He also does social smiles, but sometimes it's hard to tell how honest they are. The smiles that Molly gets - and that's something I've noticed before - are void of honesty. Oh, Molly.

Should I ever get bored and at the same time feel like watching Sherlock, I should categorize all these smiles.

I love this--you're right, Sherlock does seem to smile the most when he's thinking about his work or getting something right. I love that he smiles at the prospect of danger so much.

These are fantastic, and yes, they're SUCH a study in character. Also, he is especially otherworldy when he smiles!

(Do you by any chance have larger sizes of these pictures? The quality is stunning!)

Well, I made the pictures smaller and added a bit of color, which added a bit of quality. I mean, the caps themselves aren't that awesome. But if you want them I can upload them for you. Though not right now, because my FTP program just randomly decides when it wants to work and when not - most of the time it doesn't.

Oh, you DID retreat them! That explains why they're so crisp and sharp! How on earth do you do that: it's brilliant! It's your versions I'm interested in (or to learn how to do this meself one day...)

IOW: yes, thank you, please!

I could tell you how I did it, but you need Photoshop or the info won't be very useful.

Would Photoshop Elements suffice?
fueschgast[personal profile] fueschgast on December 27th, 2011 09:15 pm (UTC)
Yes, that should be very similar. I'll put together a little tutorial and post it as soon as my FTP program decides to let me upload the pictures.

Since you have Photoshop, I left the caps in psds instead of saving every picture individually. And I haven't removed the mediaplayer frame.

1x01
1x02
1x03

Haven't started on the tutorial yet. Where do you want to start? Resizing, sharpening or light/color?

You are such a STAR! I shall have Elements in the new year, if that's okay with you could we do it then? (My six-year-old desktop EXPLODED on me a week ago (sparks, black smoke, acrid smell, the works) and I've decided to switch to Mac, which means replacing most of my software. The little I've seen of Photoshop has convinced me that it's too cumbersome for my use (until then I used Photostudio, which had come free with my €70 scanner. ) So the sensible choice seems Elements!

Ah, more time for me, that's good!

Because the tutorial includes pictures, I made an extra post, so you want have to load the picspam pics/people looking at this pispam don't have to load the tutorial pics.
