Our mom accompanied my sister and me to the airport. We got there 2 hours before the flight, which is apparently necessary for some reason.
I pointed out to my sister (who's afraid of flying) that we had several Lost numbers on our bording passes. She forbid me to talk until we had landed.
So our luggage was checked in and we had time to kill, which we did by going to the restaurant and eating ice cream.
View from the restaurant.

An hour before depature sis and I went through security. I was wearing what I call my kangaroo shirt, because it has a bag on the stomach. The security lady found it a bit suspicious and wanted me to empty it. Then she looked for what felt like ages at the Muse tickets I produced from the bag (why yes, in case the plane has to do an emergency water landing and our luggage is lost, I'll still have the tickets to go to my precious gigs [and a credit card]). After she had figured out what these bits of paper are (or had given up trying to recognize the band name), she said "have fun", heh.
Things that were a first for me on this flight:
- getting to fly directly from Dresden instead of having to travel to Berlin first
- getting to use a gangway
- flying with an airline that isn't Ryan Air
- being on a somewhat smaller plane (it had 17 rows)

I filmed take-off, as always. I know we're not supposed to use electronic devices during take-off (no one ever bothers to tell us why), but so far filming hasn't crashed our plane, so I'll continue filming. I would have loved getting to see my hometown from above, but due to the direction in which we took off it wasn't possible.
At least I got to see our TV tower.
I think I'm seeing a bit of a heiligenschein in my video, but it's not clear enough, so I'm not posting a picture.
My sister is completely different from me when it comes to flying. She nervous on a plane, I'm sooo gloriously calm. I get to take a break from the travel panic (What if we miss our plane/whatever? What if this or that goes wrong?).
Heh, round fields.
Thin fields (they're Dutch, as it turned out).
The pilot had said something about Brussels, which made me assume we were going to fly over the Belgian coast, but thanks to some Google stalking and comparing with my photos and memories I found out that we flew over Rotterdam.
You can see Den Haag from here.
When were flying over the mouth of the Thames, the first officer made an announcement that we'd approach the airport from the south and the west, "so if you keep your eyes out the window today, you'll have some lovely views of the city". Ha, sightseeing before we even landed!
Near the mouth of the Thames.
Thanks to Google Maps I can tell that this is Bexleyheath.
Torchwood tower, as I still fangirlishly call it, as seen from above London Lane or so.
London Eye, Westminster Bridge and the shadow of the parliament.
The Shard. The red circle is where sis and I stayed.
Tower Bridge.
Torchwood tower.
The ugly O2 Arena and behind it a building that looks like an open book. XD
I had no idea they have a gondola lift over the river.
The Thames Barrier.
I don't know about you,...
...but to me if feels kind of weird to be on a runway that's surrounded by water.
At passport control behind me in line I sighted a guy who I'm pretty sure was an old classmate of mine. Heh, he was on the same plane. He probably came for the football match.
Sis and I took the DLR & Tube to our hotel.

Our room was small, but nice.
The hallway (and our room too) has carpet on the wall, heh.
Check out this nice bathroom!
A kettle, mugs, tea bags, instant coffee, sugar, milk and cookies! \o/
After we had rested for a bit, we went to buy some food and do touristy things. Having a kettle in our room meant that we could make instant noodles and soups, yay! So much better than the first time we were in London and had to survive on what needed neither fridge nor preparation and on McDonald's breakfast.
For shits and giggles we took the stairs down the Tube station instead of the elevator. 5 or 7 floors. In circles.
St. Paul's Cathedral.
How cruel, this candy store sells nerds as sweets! :O
OMG, there's Angry Birds candy?! XD
We weren't even looking for it (it was on my to-visit list, but not planned for today) when we came across a street called Old Bailey *fangirl flail*. Remember when John walked here?
Here, have a nicer picture of it.
It was too dark to get a good picture of Justitia, so here's a pic from day 5.
Pretty lamp in the building across the street.
Because I remembered from looking at Google Maps that St. Bart's was pretty close, we went looking for it. Not that we had to look very far. The Central Criminal Court is at an intersection and before even walking across I already recognized St. Bart's, hee. Holy shit, I knew it wasn't far, but that's even closer than I expected! I'm also amazed at my recognition skills, because even with contact lenses my distance vision isn't that great and I haven't seen St. Bart's on TV with these surroundings.

Btw, the trees are a lie. There are no trees on this street (and this is where I notice that "trees" and "street" are very nearly anagrams of each other). I like TV shows - fairytales.
The bus stop, the benches, the booth, the building. OMG, you guys!
The Place. With the yellow spot.
The phoneboooox! There are even messages from Germany, hee.
Sitting in front of The Place (I'm actually doing the same face as the smiley).
After that we went to Tesco and bought some more food. Where I had the pleasure of experiencing one of those chip-and-pin machine that John has beef with. This day made me a really happy fangirl.
