Edinburgh vacation, day 7
Family friend, sis and I went to the Castle and on the way I noticed that the Christmas shop isn't there anymore. :o(

One of my favorite views here.

Saw this avenue from the Castle. Little did I know I'd be there later that day, heh.

Heh, there are marguerites growing next to St. Margaret's Chapel.

One of the reasons why Scotland rocks: Fuck yeah, unicorns!

Lemme smoothly transition from a great coat of arms to a great coat!

Heh, this family tree is a thistle.

I think this place is called the Great Hall (at least I'm getting a Harry Potterisch feeling, when looking at pictures of this place). And that's some cool carving!

The ceiling doesn't show the sky behind it, but it does have pretty patterns!

This wall is so prettily colorful!

I like this staircase.

Better not let the gate hit you on the way out.

The Castle's souvenir shop has dragons and unicorns, aw yeah!

Hee, chocolate art!

If I had use for aprons, I so would have bought this one!

OMG, the perfect suitcases for me! They're so perfect. Why have I not bought this perfection?!

In a souvenir shop (I think it was the one in the above picture) I bought 3 packages Border Cookies (you know, the Scottish cookies I was introduced to by the hostel in which I stayed during my last London stay) and on the way out I discovered that they had the tartan flats that I had seen in a different shop 3 days before. Woo, good thing that I waited, because here they were 6 Pounds cheaper.

We went to the Elephant House (where Jo Rowling wrote part of Harry Potter) and texted my mom, asked her to come there.

Sooo colorful!

When mom arrived, she told us she'd seen a Google Street View car, hee.

In Edinburgh you stalk Google.

I checked Google Street View and apparently they didn't use the pictures from the trip when my mom took the photo. This is as close as I can get to the car's position in the photo. It's already off the light part of the street, but when I try to go back further, Street View always switches to the other side of the street. Thanks to that I did find my mom, though. The Google car turned and drove down the other side of the same street, as you can see from the cars & people matching my mom's photo: the silver sports car driving out of sight on the right, the white Mini and black car that are parked in front of Caffee Nero, the dark blue car driving onto the intersection, the silver Peugeot, the student in the blue jacket visible behind that car and the 2 guys in the window of Aroma Coffee Bar. Some spot, different angle: my mom not sure where to go, followed by the woman who a) is just crossing the street in her photo and b) is about to be asked for the way. Mom checking her phone. Mom asking the woman for the way to the Elephant House.

I went to the toilet and dicovered it's a Harry Potter shrine!

No surface was left uncovered, heh.

Heee, even graffiti from Germans.

Dobby is a free elf.

I think this one is m favorite. XD

In there was a 2nd door and I tried it to see if there was graffiti in there too. I didn't even notice the "Did you miss me?" until I copied the photos onto my laptop!

The first time I went I didn't have my camera with me, so I went in a few minutes later again. Also, when I saw someone go into the guys' toilet, I saw that it was much, much less graffitied.

Mom and family friend went back to the vacation apartment, while sis and I boarded 2 sightseeing tours.

Heh, an anti Stuttgart 21 sticker in Edinburgh!

The speaker of the first tour was fun and nice.

I didn't know if allotment gardens were a thing in the UK, so I was surprised to see such an area.

A sailship kite! What a perfect crossover of wind-using things. :oD

Here we are on that avenue. In the foreground we have 2 guys trying to get a frisbee from a tree, in the background is the Castle.

This beautiful gate is somewhere at Holyrood Palace, if I remember correctly.

We didn't encounter any overhead power cables, which I found a bit disappointing.

Huh, it's a clock-shaped weather vane!

Ooh, it would be totally possibly to jump from the bus onto the tram. My one chance to ride the tram and I didn't take it!

Prettyyyy.

This house looks kind of angry.

Photograph ALL the unicorns!

It's looks really weird, when such a modern addition is on a very old building.

A remaining bit of the city wall.

When sis and I got back to the apartment, mom had brought Pret dinner for us. :oD

LOL about the angry house! You photograph the same things like me. I also would have photographed that colorful stone wall. Thank you for showing me so much of Edinburgh!
