[livejournal.com profile] alias_chick's visit - day 3, part 1
[livejournal.com profile] alias_chick and I met up with my mom again and took the train to Königstein.

Fortress Königstein.

The roof is watching you with its many eyes!

The Fortress Express that took us the first part of the way up.

The rest of the way we rode this Fortress Express.

And we're there. Luckily we didn't use the scary see-though elevator.

There's a stage on the right.

Apparently some people aren't afraid of heights!

Holy braid, Batman!

At the bottom you can see the exit.

Heh, the cannons have the same colors as the Saxon coat of arms.

This is a wonderfully green fortress.

Real windows and fake windows.

What a great way to draw attention to your shop! XD

Cable drums as tables, heh.

A 1:250 model of what the fortress looked like in 1763.

Model of what it looks like now.

Never seen this plant before. If you know what it is, let me know!

Pretty ivy carpet is pretty.

The fortress has TV reception.

You can book that building for weddings.

... That's what it looks like inside. In the middle of the table is a dinner lift.

The mountain is Lilienstein, the river is the Elbe and the town is Königstein.

When you look in the other direction: Dresden in the distance.

Why would tree stump have a lid?

The reservoir has a boat! :oD

Walking to the exit.

Moss with suckers!

Tiny little snails!

Now I know where to go, when the zombie apocalypse starts.

Stairs from and to nowhere.

Zombie pit.

They had Star Wars bookmarks at the souvenir shop, so I couldn't help myself and got one. Obi-Wan doesn't seem to like the tassel hair I made him.

This is a self-cleaning toilet seat! That part with the blue top comes out and the seat turns.

Aw, beautiful pictures! When looking at these pics, I always think we live in a landscape where others come for vacation.
Last time I was at the fortress was in December for our Christmas party in the office.

That ziplining is totally crazy!

I’ve never seen that plant before either. Very weird? But beautiful!

Loved your comment with the Zombie apocalypse LOL

Yeah, it's a wonderful landscape and it's nice that I got to show it off. On her travels [livejournal.com profile] alias_chick had already seen lots of castles/fortresses, but she hadn't seen one like Königstein before. That was nice to hear.

I wanted to ask if I could link to your entries in my journal? So my friends can see the beauty as well? They are not friends locked, are they?
They are really good touristic advertising ;)

Sure, go ahead. They're not f'locked.

OMG, I typo'd *cringe*! Obviously I needed to correct that.

Hello! Coming from [livejournal.com profile] dieastra, who reccommends your photos, and she's most certainly right! :) Lovely critters, fantastic scapes and fabulous architecture.

The mysterious plant looks like Arum maculatum (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arum_maculatum). Protected in wild, grown in gardens, and those berries are poisonous.

Ooh, thank you!
