quarter-assed cosplay
In the mid-90s I became a Sailor Moon fan and I'd been trying to find my favorite character's accessories ever since.

About 1 1/2 decades ago I finally found pink rose earrings. This wasn't too hard, because rose earrings were becoming trendy (I'm impressed that they still are).

I never managed to find turquoise twin-bead ponytail holders (back then you could still find some, but now shops don't have any), so I bought some beads and sewed them on a hair band.

And with this T-shirt my Makoto outfit is complete.

Good solution! Probably also way cheaper than buying one. And more creative. And satisfying. Did I mention satisfying? ;)

Weeell, yeah, but not completely. It would have been more satisfying to find an actual twin-bead ponytail holder, because it would have the right shape. The substitute beads have a hole along the diameter, whereas ponytail-holder beads have a hole along a chord. Also, I'm not too happy with the turquoise, it's too light. But it's okay as a substitute.
